THOMAS GERARD MATELSKI
(1959-2016)
Thomas (Tommy) Matelski, 56, of Pearland, Texas passed away quietly and peacefully after a long battle with cancer at the home of his sister on Friday, June 03, 2016. He was born in Houston, Texas on December 05, 1959, son of Madgalen (Jean) Matelski and Pete Matelski. Tommy worked as a supervisor highway traffic safety specialist with National Trench Safety, formerly Mikedon. He always took pride in doing the best job he could. He was the type of person who never met a stranger and was genuinely interested in getting to know people. Anyone who knew Tommy knows that he loved to joke around and have fun, but on the serious side he was always willing to help others, however he could. While not a veteran himself, one of his favorite past times was visiting and helping out at the VFW Post 7109 in Pearland, TX. Tommy enjoyed fishing, golfing, kayaking and riding his motorcycle. He was an excellent cook and loved cooking for others. He was a talented person who could do most anything he set his mind to. As a self-taught craftsman, he could make “something” out of “nothing”. Tommy and his beautiful smile will be missed by all of those whose hearts and lives he touched.

Tommy is preceded in death by his father, Pete Matelski. Tommy is survived by his mother, Jean Matelski; six sisters, Katy Stelter and husband Gary, Sheila Bellamy and husband Pat, Debby Bailey, Susan Brantner and husband Chuck, Jeanine Grugan and husband Robert, Jackie Patton and husband John; one brother, Terry Matelski and wife Annie and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the VFW Post 7109, 4202 W. Walnut St., Pearland, TX 77581. Reception will follow immediately to celebrate Tommy’s life. Come and join family and friends in remembering Tommy and sharing stories and photos. Food and drinks will be available and anyone who would like to bring a side dish or dessert would be greatly appreciated.
